Ok. So, I just moved into my new apartment inSeattle, and I’ve just (nearly) finished setting up my studio. Ah, Seattle, where you can get a two-bedroom apartment for a better price than a studio apartment just south of San Francisco… (Fuck Daly City)
I’ve been working on a lot of different projects, as I like to stay as active as possible, and I’m almost ready to release a new sample pack, specifically for downtempo / wonky & offbeat style hip hop / glitch breaks, inspired by Samiyam, Mike Slott, Flying Lotus, KenLo, Hudson Mohawke, and other artists of that nature. It’s going to be a 100-beat sample pack, each cut weighing in at ten seconds / 92 beats per minute… perfect for that slow, smoked-out groove so many musicians are trying to get into…
But this post isn’t just about whoring out information of my new product. No, actually, the point of this post is to ask you, my lovely Bassadelic supporters, a question – what styles of genres (or sub-genres) would YOU like me to create?
No style is off-limits! Be it a ‘Moombahcore Dub Madness,’ style, or… ‘Strictly Lazer Samples,’ super-kit! Just name it! I’d love to take suggestions, for no other reason than to make something that people specifically want! As long as it’s something that can be done copyright-free… as in, I can’t exactly do a ‘Bassnectar: 500 Samples That Fell Off a Truck,’ kit, but… you know, perhaps (and that’s a strong PERHAPS) I could do a pack entitled something like, ‘Nectar of Bass: 500 Samples in The Style of Something That…May Have… Fallen Off a Truck… Wink, Wink.’
Hmm… No, I think I’ll keep it a bit more legal than that, on second thought. But all roflcopters aside, give me some feedback, if you have any ideas! Or, email me with ideas, if you’re one of those folks who like remaining anonymous on this scary, CIA-monitored interweb of ours.
