So, I’ve been getting back into breakcore recently, and then I find out the V.Snares is releasing a new album in June! (On Planet Mu, the album will be called, ‘My Love is a Bulldozer’) and so I decided, “Well, hey, how bout a recap of some awesome V.Snares tunes from the last ten or so years!”
10.) Fuck a Stranger in the Ass
9.) Doormouse – Skelechairs (Venetian Snares Remi)
This track was definitely on many a breakcore mixtape from back in the day, and then Venetian Snares went ahead and remixed it, and guess what happened then – yep! – the remix’d version found itself on a ton of hardcore/breakcore mixtapes of the 2000s, as well! Ah, it was a fun time, that first wave of breakcore, when people freaked out and still got upset about offensive music…. And with a track like this, it’s not even offensive lyrically, but sonically. And speaking of sonically-offensive, with stupidly-abrasive noises and harsh soundscapes that loop on and on much longer than necessary, with time signatures from alternate dimensions and sounds that infuriate and fascinate the eardrums: if you want that, you should really listen to Making Orange Things, which is, arguably, one of the noisiest albums in human history. No, I’m serious. I don’t mean to oversell it, but….it will make you deaf. V.Snares and Speedrance sent tracks to each other over the internet, trying to make the most ridiculously noisy album ever. Well, I think they did it. Keep in mind, this was years before the sickest and most filth-smeared brostep shit ever came to be. Before Datsik. Before Rusko’s fuckaround nightmare bro’d-up dubstep existed. Music was still pretty silly and loopy and noisy and fun – and the case of breakcore – fast! It’s fucking fast as can be! This is back before trading massive patches was a thing. Ah, I sure am glad to see breakcore comin back, even if it is or isn’t being referred to as breakcore***
8.) Make Ronnie Rocket
7.) Ultraviolent Junglist
6.) Winnipeg is a Frozzen Shithole
5.) Fuck Toronto Jungle
4.) Dance Like You’re Selling Nails
3.) Herbie Goes Ballistic
So, yea, this is probably the tenth time I’ve posted this track on Bassadelic over the last couple of years. Well – it’s that good, IMO! If you’re into Venetian Snares (which, well, I’m assuming you are, if you’re on a Top Ten V.Snares Trax post) you should hear this one. I love it, and I hope ya do, too :) If you don’t, well, surf around and find YOUR favorite track, and leave a post in the comments section below. I’d love to know what everyone else’s favorite Aaron Funk song is.
2.) Punk Kids Out There
Ok, so I found this one off a release from V.Snares in the 2000s, and I search for it on youtube, and as it turns out it was from a 1998 tape – a fucking V.Snares TAPE FROM THE 90S! WHAT??? Spells the record label, put this one out in ’98. I didn’t think he had anything out since 2000, but alas! A cassette tape exists from Aaron Funk! Super ultra crazy 90s V.Snares shit! Fuck yea! Hazaaa! Well, if nothing else, this post has become a real learning experience for me… (I mean, consider it’s a top ten for venetian Snares tracks, ya gotta admit: it wasn’t as if you expected to really learn a ton, right? But yes, V.Snares has officially been rocking it for the last three decades – an overindulgent and blatant overstatement, howeer, considering 1998 to 2014 is only 16 years… Unless you’re reading this in the year 2028, that is..
Still, I’m excited to have learned that. Fuck! 1998! OK! Fatboy Slim was blowing up, the Backstreet Boys were moistening girl’s undergarments, and Prodigy were doing their prodigous and prodigal – and in some basement in Canada, Venetian Snares was pioneering a new genre that was (and is) very much of it’s time.
1.) A Giant Alien Force More Violent & Sick Than Anything You Can Imagine
So, this isn’t one track, but rather, a long and interconnected series of scrambled and mind-numbing musical sections that lasts about 14 minutes. You know the 2nd half of Abbey Road? That Medley? Yea, it’s uh, kind of like that, except made by violent aliens who think Earth Music is for the birds. MUTANT ROBOT FUTURE-BIRDS FROM HELL THAT WANT TO FUCK EVERRRRYTHIIIINGGGGGGGG!!!! So if you’ll be so willing, please allow these mutant robot future-birds from hell to fuck your ears, if you have 14 minutes. It’s this kind of release that keeps the music of Aaron Funk well away from the pop charts, but to be honest, I can guarantee that’s not a concern to him. If you’ve listened to all (or even one) of the tracks on this page, it’s easy to see why.
Hope you enjoyed these! I did!

footnotes:
*** – some people won’t listen to it if it has the word, ‘breakcore’ put next to it, and that’s the way it was back in 2005, as well. It’s a topic I’d be down to going into more depth on, but that’s for another time. Until then, I really hope you enjoyed some of this fine 2000s-era breakcore fuckery :) Consider, for a moment, that some of this music was made over ten or fifteen years ago…. It’s technically never been easier (for the most part) to make electronic music, now that there’s as huge an industry as possible set up for it AND the technology has caught up with what a lot of folks are trying to use it for (not to say that there isn’t a learning curve, especially for some forms of electronic music, because there still definitely is) but think of the possibilities that exist for creating ultra-fast/ultra-alien violent hardcore musical entertainment….
