I did this graphic above, I really hope if you are seeing this for the first time, Padlock, that you don’t hate it. I can change it/take it down, whatever ya want; I just wanted to have a cover graphic for this post.

I did a Venetian Snares Top Ten Trax post earlier today, and I thought about it for awhile and realized I WISH I could do a footwork-breakcore top ten (music on the more abrasive side of footwork jungle) but, at the moment, I don’t know that I really could… Maybe there’s some other word for it (other than breakcore) but if there is, I’m not familiar with what that word or phrase is (as of 07:34 PM, EST, 04/14/2014) …perhaps in the fuuuutuuuure it’ll be possible. Maybe the Dynasty Shit sound will blow up :) That’s hopeful! But anyway, I’m not gonna whine and bitch too much more – INSTEAD, I’d rather focus on WHAT IS!

Hi. I’m Padlock. I’m 20. I live in Florida. I make music and have been for 6 years now (whoa). As far as genres go: It varies. Started in breakcore, but now I find myself in a completely new place, making juke, ambient and future garage music. Who knows where I’ll be in 2 years. I like where I am now though. I hope you do too.

It starts out in juke territory, and it’s a lot of fun; and then it moves into breakcore style edits n tweaks n stutters, old jungle vocal flips, and haaaard n twisted d’n’b rhythms! I’m a fan.

The thing is, there really is virtually nothing like this out there. I’m seeing breakcore’s second wind (only thing with that is… well… it might not be called ‘breakcore,’ but the spirit/vibe/mentality/energy that went into a kind of music like breakcore is starting to slowly but surely resurface….. breakbeats are comin back, speed is coming back (I mean tempo, not amphetamines, narc!) and jungle is comin back. Ze Jungle! So to see footwork/Chi-town juke music get mixed with jungle is just awesome – and to see THAT combination of juke/jungle get even more aggressive and tweaked out the way V.Snares would do it? Ooh, I’m in love with a sound potential like that.

In other words, I know it doesn’t REALLLLY exist yet, in this world, uh..like, almost AT ALL… but I really want it to. So thanks for doing a fucking dope mix like this, Padlock. If you ever want a new album promoted or anything, hit me the funk up!

And btw, there’s a goddamn remix of Squarepusher’s My Hot Red Car in this set! ooh, what dope! such fresh!
