So, it looks like Fall is here… Cider is being sold, there’s a nice autumn breeze floating through the air, and I have a cold. Or, maybe just allergies. I’m not entirely sure yet, but I do know one thing – I feel great. Fall is the best! And what better thing to do when you’re feeling chilled out then listen to some chilled out music?
So what’s out there today? Well, I discovered the music of Marenberg Kollektiv, a Slovenian group that has some really interesting music. They did a slowed-down, ambient-but-groovin’ remix of a Missy Elliott tune, tearing down the original beat and adding some real soul to the tune, and you can check it out here:
One of my favorites is their version of Snoop’s Drop it Like it’s Hot; again, tearing the tempo down, and, with this song, bossa-nova-izing the vibe up a lot. (I think more music should be “bossa-nova-ized”) This one is interesting, because usually, when I hear a song that’s chopped n screwed (or… slowed n throwed or… or just slowed down and reinterpreted, or however you want to define this) the track sounds, to me, more demonic and eery. With some of these remixes, though, it seems that he’s made the tracks significantly more soulful and carefree. It’s fun to hear this side of slowed-down rap mixes, to be certain. I wouldn’t say it’s altogether cheery; but certainly closer to the cheery side of the things than the almost-scary, demonic, and ruthless side of things – which are all good descriptions of other slowed down / chopped remixes of rap songs, in my opinion.
So here it is…

I appreciate, cause I found just what I was looking for. You’ve ended my four day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day. Bye
