MDMA: Legal Alternatives

molly (bassadelic)

SOOOOOOOO, let’s keep this classy. First, obviously, we know that MDMA is illegal in every country (unless you can find some random island where it’s not – or, international waters? Not sure about international waters, now that I think about it… Or Liberland? I don’t know what the situation is with MDMA in Liberland, to be honest… Ahh, I’m convoluting everything now…. OK, Chances are, if you’re reading this, yes, it’s illegal… And I’m not trying to encourage anyone to go out and take MDMA. That’s not what this post is. I’m not encouraging drug use. So OK…  – For the rest of these chemicals, they are alternatives in the sense that they are for research purposes only (meaning no human or animal consumption) and yes, there are alternatives to MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methyl-amphetamine) >>> in molecular structure. <<<<

Read on if you are interested. It get’s, to quote Yuri, “All-too-sciency now,” but, that’s how it goes..

None of these are allowed to be consumed, and I take no responsibility for anything you do with this info. I’m just a guy sharing INFO.  Seriously. All the links presented? You must of legal age in your country to view these links and/or purchase any of the things you may or may not want to. It’s up to you to figure all that out… Again, I’m not personally encouraging anyone  to buy chemicals, I’m not personally selling anything, I’m a middle man with info. So… This paragraph is extra-clarification on that….   ANYWHO….

((FIRST, a bit about MDMA: it’s is a stimulant and entactogenic drug of the phenethylamine and also an  amphetamine class. MDMA has become widely known as “ecstasy” (shortened to “E“, “X“, or “XTC“), usually referring to its street form (although this term may also include the presence of possible adulterants/people putting fucked up non-mdma chemz in there to try to make a quick buck on the street). I discovered there is a term in the The U.K. called “Mandy” to describe it… I didn’t know that. Well.. um.. OK, NOW I do ..

MDMA was first synthesized in 1912 by Anton Köllisch as designed as  a medicine to stop abnormal bleeding. Over the course of 65 years, MDMA was largely put on the shelf and forgotten, but there were reports of it being used recreationally as far back as 1970… (Can you imagine that? Way back then, somebody rolling in ’70?) Super hero / titan-chemist Alexander Shulgin is credited for popularizing the use of MDMA in psychotherapy in the late 1970s.

ma3

When Molly “hit the streets,” it was called XTC, eventually it became cut with other chemicals, and now, xtc has a bad reputation as a cut-drug, and pure mdma being thought of as more unadulterated. In fact, though, what is thought of as pure mdma might not be at all, it might just as much be cut with something, and the cycle continues, as it does in certain types of black markets.

Here’s the molecular structure of MDMA (and for further reading, consult wikipedia… a lot of folks head to erowid as their ‘go-to,’ but I’ve found that site a bit cumbersome. You want to find out what a person’s experience is, and then halfway through they mention they were on H or something, which completely destroys the purity of the human-testing (which is not allowed anyway. Just reiterating that point)… But here’s MDMA:

Mdma (bassadelic)

Of course, the war on drugs was in full effect, and Ronald Reagan, being the big dick that he was, pushed to make it illegal.  It was scheduled as a controlled substance in 1985. Actually, one of the main tests they used to “PROVE” it’s lack of safety was completely falsified. They tested and showed a brain scan of someone on methamphetamine, with holes in the brain, and they claimed it was MDMA. Tsssk, tsssk. Naughty fucking government.

Anyway, there are other chemz out there that are similiar.

5-mapb is a similiar one… And for all the info on that, here’s a quick wiki link

And here’s its structure:

5-MAPB (bassadelic)

Notice anything? Well… Yea. It’s pretty damn similiar to MDMA, structurally, and for research purposes, it’s legal, if I’m not mistaken. An oxygen was taken off the molecule, which I’m sure makes a difference, but I mean… PRETTY….PRETTTTTYYY similiar…

So what next?

Well, let me tell you what’s next.

5-EAPB

What the fuck is that??

It’s wiki-pasting time: 5-EAPB (1-(benzofuran-5-yl)-N-ethylpropan-2-amine) is an entactogenic amphetamine which is structurally related to 5-MAPB and 5-APB. It might be predicted to show similar effects to these drugs in humans, but the pharmacology of 5-EAPB remains unstudied as of 2013.

PLEASE do your homework on this one (and what I mean by that is look up as much information online and [if possible] offline, as you can. It’s supposedly a strong thing. There could always be some idiot who decided to take it, and end up taking too much and dies. I’m not joking. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED. THIS IS SERIOUS. AT LEAST ONE PERSON HAS DIEAD FROM THIS. As I said::::: ABSOLUTELY NONE of this is intended for human consumption. Please read up as much as possible about this one if you are curious about doing chemical (non-human/animal) analysis on it. For real. No sarcasm here. I’m trying to emphasize how serious this chemical is.

Want a picture of it for comparison? Most of what I found looked SO similiar to 5-MAPB. But, what I do know is that it’s about $100 USD (more or less) for 5 grams of it. Anyway, you can get that 5-EAPB here. No, that’s not a joke. You can get it. It’s legal in the US, but check to see if it’s legal where you are, and that goes for all chemicals listed on this site…

What else?

As far as other entactogens, there is Ethylone.

Ethylone, also known as 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-ethylcathinone (MDEC, bk-MDEA), is research chemical classified as possible entactogen, stimulant, and psychedelic of the phenethylamine and cathinone chemical classes. It is the β-ketoanalogue of MDEA.

Looking for that, it’s slightly cheaper than 5-eapb, and you can pick it up here or click the graphic o it below….

(No, I’m very serious. )

Yep. Any photos of it?

WHY YES!

ethyl

Yes, a lot of the entactogens look similar. As a matter of fact, if you’re curious….. which you probably are, if you’ve gotten this far, here, here are many (but not all) entactogens and their molecular structures. Notice the similarities that so many of them share. It’s just very interesting to see them all together and compare like this: (you might want to zoom in for a closer look, by the way).

entactogens (bassadelic)

Yes, they all look relatively similar (well, not all of them) but they are each unique.  Entactogens are a very unique class of chemz. You might have to squint, but if you can’t see it, you can always look it up on Google. Search for entactogen molecules. Or go to PubChem.

So, I hope this post is not seen as too gratuitous, I’m hoping to help show people that there’s a lot of interesting science behind some of these chemz we’ve heard about over the years.  So, I guess that’s it for now.

SCIENCE!

This page is getting a ton of traffic – which is good. But seriously, the chemicals I described are for research purposes only. I don’t know how many times I can say that, and I take no responsibility for what you do with them, but I will say, once again, they are strictly NOT for human/animal consumption. Again, that’s no joke. I know, sometimes I’m sarcastic on this site, but as far as these chemz go, I’m being completely serious. No animal/human consumption of any kind.

OH, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the new sample pack I just put out: it’s for producers who want that New Orleans Bounce sound… There’s a preview on the link, too, so you can hear what you’re getting.

So, here’s that bounce pack: (it’s NOT expensive, and there are NO other royalty-free bounce packs ANYHERE ONLINE… So… check it out)

Hey, btw, thanks for reading all of this article… Here’s a photo of an old TR-66. Yes, it’s random…  People used to make beats with this, though. I plan to release the samples, soon. I got a TR-68 but I’d love to get a TR-66 on this site… Looks nasty.

And here’s a photo of a pretty pin-up girl listening to old vinyls. She can’t figure out WHAT to listen to – oh wait, nevermind, she’s got that new StrangeFlow record. Good. Good.

50s pretty pin up model wearing skirt, looking through vinyl recods, I bet she's looking at that new StrangeFlow record!

BTW , mixcloud embeds all funny (bad-funny) so scroll down to get the mixes after you hear each one. Thanks!)

So it’s awesome raging out to big bass trax, but what about afterwards when you’re like, “Oh my god, that was great but now I need to just chill…,” what then?

Here – Will Herwig from his youtube page has got you covered. It even opens with the best Flying Lotus track ever (IMO, anyway) and the whole thing is just a stone cold slow-down-groove-mix….  Stuff that might’ve been called wonky (I would’ve called a lot of it that, a few years ago) but it’s so slowed and chilled, I don’t know..  Anyway, whatever the hell it’s called, it’s chill, it’s got mellow breaks and nice ambience, and it’s great for chilling out or even falling asleep, if so desired::::: (and if you look below the video, there’s a dl link that the dude put up, too. Thank, Wil Herwig, you masterful motherfucker!)

Here you go, have it on your phone or wherever: http://dl.soundowl.com/4qhn.mp3

Hey hey, the dude also has a mix of XXYYXX. If you haven’t heard of XXYYXX by now, here:

Ultimate New Orleans Bounce Samples

The sound that captures the hip hop spirit in New Orleans; bounce music has taken over. With influences from the “Triggerman” to the “Brown Beat,” New Orleans bounce music quickly took over the South in the 1990s and then spread across the country thereafter, with artists such as Master P and labels like Cash Money helping to popularize the booty-shaking 200+ BPM ultra fast (and still funky) grooves of Bounce.

This sample contains loops to construct your own bounce tracks, with basslines, percussion lines, and complete beats to alter or use intact, however you decide. There are also one-shot percussive hits, so you can create your own beats from scratch, ranging from 606s – 707s – to 808s ! The style of N.O. bounce developed in the early 90s and it’s infectious and danceable as it is diverse, with often extremely sexual lyrics to basic breaks that sound that they’re at about half-tempo (100ish BPM instead of 200ish BPM) and there’s also sissy bounce, which is an extremely popular style within the realm of bounce musical culture.

So get ready to get the dancefloor twerking to your new bounce jams with these authentic samples, made with drum machines that were used to create some of the original Southern hip hop / bounce tracks – as well as drum sounds that are more modern as well. The loops are all around 19 seconds long, and many of them build up at the end before looping (for when you really want to get people going crazy in the club).  You might want to get some new sub woofers for this, so you can really make the walls shake as you play these samples out. Playing these with laptop speakers will only give you half of an idea about how these sounds really play, as this package contains some HEAVY BASS !!!

THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS:
—  14 Bounce Basslines @ 200bpm (19 seconds long each) (some can be used at half-tempo, rendering them 100bpm to give more options to the producer
—  22 Full Bounce Beats @ 200bpm (19 second long each) (again, many can be used at half-tempo: 100bpm)
—  12 Bounce Percussion Loops (without bass) (19 seconds long each) (also, some usable at half-tempo: 100bpm)
—  14 One-shot drum samples, ranging from 606s, 707s, and 808s (including Kicks, Hats, Snare and Clap and Crash samples)

ALL FILES ARE IN .WAV FORMAT

And of course, my personal favorite sound in the world, the 808 electric cow-drum, is included. How could I leave that out? … OH – and BTW, this is THE ONLY package out there of it’s kind, which is what we’re all about at Bassadelic.com. All these samples are completely legal to use in your recordings.

These samples are all royalty-free. You can use these samples however you want – in both commercial as well as personal applications; however, you can NOT resell these samples.
THANKS! And Happy mixin’ !

How to Find Musical Inspiration by Ignoring Music You Love: (Feed your brain differently & feel it grow)

Posted by StrangeFlow on March 18, 2016
Posted in: Articles. Leave a comment

I remember at a party, years ago, I think it was at one of my old apartments, there was a metalhead, and he was saying he’d ran out of ideas – he said that it felt like all the good ideas had been done in metal, and he wondered how he could come up with anything new.

Why limit yourself to taking influence for metal music-making by only listening to metal that sounds like everything you’ve just created? Is there any wonder why you might not find musical inspiration in that method?

We strengthen the neural pathways in our brains by thinking about / doing / feeling something over and over and over. The connections that you have in your brains about music, for example, might be very limited if there aren’t very many connections there. I think it’s good to expand and develop all sorts of new connections, as opposed to getting cemented in one specific series of neural pathways – that would only limit a person, in the long run. I think it’s great to solidify the connections in the brain with things like technique and skill and practicing over and over – but as far as basic musicology – basic artistic ideas as to “what music can be” – I think it’s best to keep that a bit more open.

So, if you want to make metal, but ran out of ideas, what can you do? …Well, listen to “Giant Steps” by John Coltrane.

You don’t have to make music like him, or even try to. But the idea is to loosen up the connections you’ve formed in your head about what, specifically, music “should” sound like… Now, if you want to make metal, than… Cool, do it… If you want to make  a hard house banger…. Cool. Do it. If you want to make glitch hop and rap over it, and have a little bit of chop n screw influence in the post production – cool. DO IT.

The point is, you can STILL understand other forms of music, form new pathways, and realize there are alternative ways that people are (and have been) creating rhythm, melody, harmony, dissonance, noise, cadence, vocal structures, flows, time signatures, etc. You can combine ideas from different forms of music together. You can create your own ideas. I don’t know if anyone has thought of “interchangeable octaves,” before, I just got the idea from listening to music and then playing the keyboard and changing the octave settings on specific notes but maintaining the same melodic sequence of notes… Maybe after reading this, you’ll listen to some of the tracks posted in this article and then mess around with different sounds and come up with your own techniques. They don’t have to be brand new (they can be, though).

Think of it like this: your brain needs to eat. You can’t feed it the same thing EVERY time. It needs variety, or else it’ll get bored…

So try listening to something completely different, and let your brain build an even bigger base of musical ideas. You’re broadening the reach of your mind, you artistic eye, and if you focus on it, you can almost feel it happening.

New FREE StrangeFlow ALBUM!!!

Posted by StrangeFlow on March 1, 2016
Posted in: Articles. 4 Comments
ITS HERE!! NEW FREE 2-hour STRANGEFLOW ALBUM!!!
What is this album? TL;DR:::: If Stockhausen and George Clinton had a weird psychedelic baby with 12 fingers and a stutter and lived in some weird half-way dimension and saw ten kinds of purple that nobody else could see—-THIS would be the musical representation of that messed up little baby.

PRESENTING A NEW RECORD LABEL, AND MY RETURN TO MUSIC UNDER THE MONIKER, ‘STRANGEFLOW,’ w000t!!!
WEIRD FUNK!!!!!!

With a noisy, experimental as hell mixture of retro funk melodies, modern electronic / rave elements, StrangeFlow (ME) returns with a two hour album to get you grooving as wonky as possible. This is also the first release by his own label, Sidewayz Funk Records, so expect many more exciting albums and releases in the future! The album is free for a limited time (or until all the free-links are downloaded… bandcamp only gives out a certain amount). Grab it now and get wonky. Weird funky avant-garde hardcore mayhem…

With forty-seven tracks, there’s bound to be something on here for electronic fans to get up on. So get up on the downstroke, get that “SIDEWAYZ FUNK” sound into your soul and let it grow like a tape worm until it destroys you from the inside out. It’s a medical problem you actually DO want. Don’t look for too many ‘EDM bangers,’ (i fucking hate that phrase) though there are some fucking insane tracks on here… And if you can understand the lyrics to ‘More Dap,’ you’re my personal hero, and I also would recommend time with a therapist, as that track is crooked as a house slowly falling into a sinkhole in Florida.

Tracks like, ‘Break the Sky’ and ‘Garbage Island,’ are the most… I don’t know… “mainstream”-ish tracks, though I don’t know if I could even go that far and call any of it mainstream. It’s that real raw funky underground electronic chaos shit…with some nice melodies…

THIS IS NOT for the EDM fan who just learned about Daft Punk a year ago, or who regular listen to Avicci (spellcheck? I’m not gonna bother googling his name) … but for the headz who want something fun and FUCKING DIFFERENT.. A “punk” manifestation of electronic patterns and aesthetics. Dada Bass, for anyone who knows what dada is… (I’ve been asking around… so far it seems like a lost art movement) anyway though, whatever, enough of this fucking write-up. Check it out for yourself. If you like it, awesome, feel free to get it (and donations are VERY appreciated, this one took months and I hope to fill my refrigerator at least once or twice because of this album, lol)… If you hate it, which many will, that’s all good, send me lots of hate mail and I’ll bake you a blueberry pie and eat it in your honor. I might do some kinky things to it first, but, you know, REALITY, right?

BTW, first track really introduces the album, so if you want a straight listen-through, I recommend starting there…
